Hunan Institute of Engineering is located in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province, the hometown of Mao Zedong, a great man of a generation. Hunan Institute of Engineering was founded in June 2000 by the former Xiangtan Mechanical and Electrical College (founded in 1951, under the former Ministry of Machinery Industry, and is a national demonstration key construction school for higher engineering colleges), Hunan Textile College (founded In 1978, it was formed by the merger of the former Hunan Textile Industry Department.
